Cash-Basis In. Tax-Ready Out.
CatSimba is being designed as a professional service-enablement platform for tax professionals, accountants and bookkeepers: a cash-basis production system that can turn bank/CSV data into reviewed, tax-ready and Schedule C-ready work, while also connecting client collaboration, tax workflows, vendor compliance, payments, white-label client experiences, automation and optional human resources.
Compare five workflow categories
| Approach | Common buying reason | Where CatSimba is focused |
|---|---|---|
| Practice-management platforms Examples: TaxDome, Financial Cents, Canopy, Karbon | CRM, workflow, tasks, portal, documents, billing/eSign. | CatSimba also reaches into the underlying cash-basis transaction-to-tax-ready production workflow. |
| Bookkeeping/accounting software Examples: QuickBooks Online, Xero, Wave, FreshBooks | General accounting/bookkeeping systems. | CatSimba is intentionally narrower: cash-basis, professional-controlled, tax-ready/Schedule C-ready workflow; no separate QBO/Xero required for its core workflow. |
| Professional-first / tax-ready bookkeeping tools Examples: Double (formerly Keeper) and Uncat | Transaction review, bookkeeping automation, tax packs/Schedule C-oriented outputs in varying combinations. | Compare the entire stack, not one checkbox: tax mapping, collaboration, POAs, W-9/vendor compliance, payments, white label, service bundling, optional human resources. |
| Outsourced / white-label bookkeeping services Examples: Salt, Finsmart, RemoteBooksOnline, PABS and similar | Human bookkeeping performed behind the professional's brand, often using QBO/Xero. | CatSimba can provide technology plus optional VA/back-office assistance and can also help source specialized offshore accounting talent. |
| Bank-statement conversion Examples: MoneyThumb and ProperSoft / ProperConvert | Convert statement transactions into spreadsheet or accounting-import files. | CatSimba continues into professional categorization, exception review and Schedule C-ready workpapers; a converter can be used upstream. |
Examples are illustrative; this chart does not assert that a competitor lacks any feature. Competitor capabilities and prices change. Revalidate each named company’s official website, pricing and feature documentation, and retain dated evidence before publication.

When CatSimba fits
You want a professional-controlled cash-basis path from supported bank or spreadsheet data to reviewed tax-ready work, with transaction-level questions and traceable workpapers.
When full accounting software fits
Your client needs accrual books, substantial receivables or payables, inventory accounting, enterprise workflows or a specialized ERP. Continue to use a suitable accounting system and the appropriate specialists.
No separate QuickBooks or Xero subscription required for the core workflow
CatSimba's core cash-basis workflow does not require the client to maintain a separate QuickBooks or Xero subscription. Supported bank/transaction files can enter CatSimba directly and move through categorization, client clarification, professional review, tax mapping and Schedule C-ready workpapers. For work beyond this scope, the professional may continue to use appropriate accounting software.
Do the work. Automate the work. Delegate the work. Monetize the work.
Your own team
Firm staff operate the workflow under professional review.
Optional back-office help
Appropriate bookkeeping and workflow tasks can be assisted by available virtual/back-office resources, subject to permissions, supervision, privacy and applicable taxpayer-consent rules.
Specialized resources
CatSimba can help subscribers locate bookkeeping/accounting resources for hard-to-find skills such as accrual accounting, specialized accounting applications and ERP systems, and place those resources at the professional's disposal at mutually agreed/discounted rates. CatSimba itself does not become an accrual-accounting or ERP engine.
VA/back-office pricing, scope, permissions and consent rules; and specialized sourcing pricing, placement model, contractual responsibility and service-level expectations remain to be finalized before public launch.
We searched for it, too.
We found practice-management software. We found full accounting platforms. We found tax-focused bookkeeping applications. We found white-label bookkeeping services. We found outsourced accounting teams. And we found products that solve individual pieces of the workflow.
Why we are building this combination
CatSimba brings its planned capabilities into a professional-controlled workflow: cash-basis bookkeeping without requiring a separate QuickBooks or Xero subscription, transaction-level client collaboration, tax mapping and Schedule C-ready workpapers, client/tax workflows, W-9/vendor compliance, 1099 workflows, payment orchestration, white-label business tools, service-bundling opportunities and optional human back-office resources.
So we're building CatSimba around that combination.
Software when you want technology. Automation when you want efficiency. Back-office assistance when you need additional hands. Specialized resources when the work requires different skills. Your firm stays in control.
Availability varies by release and plan. Named competitor examples and comparative claims require revalidation against dated official materials before publication.
You decide what to offer. You decide what to bundle. You keep the client relationship.
All applicable capabilities should be available at the professional's discretion to use internally, include in an existing engagement, bundle into a new service package, or resell/charge for as part of the professional's own client offering, subject to CatSimba plan/add-on terms. This creates an opportunity for additional revenue streams, not a guarantee of revenue.
